Earlier this week we got word that Ray Fisher’s Cyborg could star alongside Ezra Miller’s Scarlet Speedster in 2018’s The Flash, but it looks like that may not be such a done deal after all. Director Rick Famuyiwa has taken to Twitter to respond to the rumour (check it out below), and while there’s a small chance that he wants to keep fans guessing it seems to indicate that Victor Stone won’t be showing up in his movie.

This may just come down to how the dynamic between The Flash and Cyborg is received next year; The DCEU has already proven to be a very reactive franchise – just look at the tonal difference between Batman v Superman and the Justice League trailer – so if the friendship between the two heroes is a hit I’d be surprised if Famuyiwa & co elected not to have Cyborg at least cameo in The Flash’s movie. Time will tell.

ORIGINAL (17/8/2016):

Warner Bros. are wasting no time when it comes to having their heroes cameo in other DC movies, with both Batman and The Flash recently showing up in Suicide Squad. The latter hero will be getting his own solo movie in 2018, and now it looks like he’ll be joined by a fellow Justice Leaguer.

According to Variety, Ray Fisher will return as Cyborg in Rick Famiyuwa’s Flash movie, which arrives two years before Cyborg’s solo outing.

It will be interesting to see just how big of a role Cyborg ends up having here, although at this point I’m willing to bet that it’s more than just a cameo. Some of the Justice League set reports mentioned the fun, lighthearted rapport shared by Fisher and Ezra Miller – who’ll be playing The Flash – so if that comes across in Justice League it makes sense that Warner Bros. would want to have the two heroes interact again as soon as possible. We’ll get a better sense of just how well the dynamic between Cyborg and The Flash works next November.

Directed by Zack Snyder and starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, J.K. Simmons, Amber Heard, Ezra Miller, and Ray Fisher, Justice League: Part 1 is currently scheduled for a November 17, 2017 release.
