Gun Media officially releases a brand new trailer for its forthcoming survival title Friday the 13th: The Game that displays a montage of Jason Voorhees’ murderous moves.

With PAX West 2016 in full swing, Gun Media has decided to use the event to unveil a fresh trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game that takes fans back to Crystal Lake with a clip rife with 80s nostalgia. Not only does the footage have grainy, neon VHS effects and a power metal panache, but also, most importantly, it shows off some of Friday the 13th: The Game‘s gruesome kills from the title’s main character Jason Voorhees.

As seenbelow  in the trailer for Friday the 13th: The Game, Jason uses a variety of villainous methods to off the title’s camp counselor characters, including impaling them with a pitchfork, burning them alive in a fireplace, and, of course, hacking them to pieces using his classic weapon of choice in the machete. Those who are averse to gore might not want to watch the footage, as some of the kill animations from the game’s PAX West 2016 trailer are pretty grisly, but fans who have a penchant for the horror genre ought to find the video thoroughly entertaining.

According to Gun Media, the renowned actor and special effects artist Tom Savini (Dawn of the DeadCreepshowFrom Dusk till Dawn) has been working with the studio on Friday the 13th: The Game as an executive producer and has also been assisting the developer in getting some of the cinematography right. Not to mention, it’s been confirmed that Savini has been designing some of the kills that Jason Voorhees will dish out in the multiplayer-focused survival game, which will more than likely be acted out and recorded by Friday the 13th series veteran Kane Hodder using motion capture.

Although Friday the 13th: The Game is a multiplayer release, Gun Media hasn’t ruled out the possibility of including a single player mode in the future. As it happens, the title’s co-creator Wes Keltner has stated that should a solo experience come to fruition, players would still be able to either play as Jason or as a camp counselor, comparing the notion to Hitman, which allows fans to choose their actions upon other characters’ movements in the game.

Based on Friday the 13th: The Game‘s trailer for this year’s PAX West and all of the other assets that have been shown to the public thus far, it’s no wonder why many are dubbing it as one of the most anticipated horror games of 2016. Plus, considering the due diligence that Gun Media is doing when it comes to hiring some of the most notable figures in the horror movie community with Tom Savini, Kane Hodder, and film score composer Harry Manfredini, the release should reflect the tone of the movie franchise extremely well.

Furthermore, by building a unique product that ditches a standard win system in favor of focusing on players needing to simply survive, the Kickstarter sensation will more than likely deliver the goods upon its launch date next month. Of course, those who are still skeptical and wish to delve into Friday the 13th: The Game‘s playable aspects further can scratch that itch by checking out our preview of the title from E3 2016.

Friday the 13th: The Game is set to release sometime this October for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
