Mafia 3: Check Out This 16-Minute Mission

Developer 2K Games officially releases an extended gameplay demo for its forthcoming open world crime title Mafia 3, showing more than 16 minutes of a mission.

Following the recent release of a comprehensive weapons trailer for Mafia 3, 2K Games has now put out one of of the most in-depth pieces of footage for the title to date. Previously shown at this year’s gamescom and Tokyo Game Show 2016, the latest video of the studio’s open world crime game gives fans a feast of 16 full minutes for a mission in which main character Lincoln Clay is out and about in New Orleans to nix the one of the main villain Sal Marcano’s underlings, Tony Derazio.

As seen in the gameplay demo for Mafia 3 below, there’s plenty of action, including, but not limited to shooting, driving, and moments of melee combat. Not to mention, fans who stick it out to the very end of the clip will be shown an incredibly fierce gun battle between Lincoln Clay and some of Derazio’s cronies, with the enemies getting pumped full of lead poisoning.

Aside from all of the recent gameplay that’s been shown off for Mafia 3, 2K has also given fans a good idea of its post-launch DLC plans for the title, which will include free content, as well as some paid expansions in the future. Such materials were revealed during a PAX West panel a couple of weeks ago, with players being able to anticipate fresh outfits for the main character, vehicle customization features, performance enhancers, in addition to the Judge, Jury and Execution pack’s new weapons that will come out about a month after the game’s release date.

Although some might be quick to make a comparison between the presentations of Mafia 3 and Grand Theft Auto 5, 2K’s parent company Take-Two Interactive would argue that the forthcoming crime title is another experience entirely. As it happens, the publisher’s CEO Strauss Zelnick has gone on record to say that Mafia 3 provides a “completely different” take on open world action.

Bearing in mind all of the assets shown for Mafia 3 thus far, there’s no doubt that the title is one of the most anticipated releases of 2016. In fact, many consider the game to have been one of the best games at E3 2016. Nevertheless, even though there has been so much stellar gameplay on display and interest in its launch next month, 2K and Hangar 13 can only hope for it to surpass the previous two titles in the franchise when it comes to sales and the public’s reception of its quality.
