No Man’s Sky Devs Working on PC Fixes
The team at Hello Games announces it is currently working on fixes for many of the issues that No Man’s Sky‘s PC players are experiencing on the platform.
As many fans of No Man’s Sky are surely aware, the space exploration and survival title’s PC version has encountered myriad issues including, but not limited to, reports of low frame rates, stuttering, crashes, and even the game’s inability to boot up on the platform. Thankfully, the developers at Hello Games have now declared that the whole team is hard at work to provide fixes for these and other problems on the PC release by following the first patch that was released alongside No Man’s Sky with another update.
As seen in the tweet below, Hello Games founder Sean Murray has said that the developer is “currently testing fixes for older AMD Phenom CPUs + more.” This statement comes after his offering of tips to fans yesterday on how to make the game run better, such as suggestions including the updating of the video card drivers, making sure the card was “above the min specs,” and checking to see if Visual C++ Redist 2010 was installed.

In addition to Murray’s tweet, an update to No Man’s Sky‘s Steam page reveals even more details about what Hello Games is working on, with the developer declaring that tickets have been filed “for everyone who mailed support,” and that it will respond to them as quickly as possible. Apparently, a lot of the reported problems from some fans who filed a ticket was due to them “trying to run the game significantly below” the minimum specs. Furthermore, it seems as if other players weren’t able to run the title due to their Intel cards, as No Man’s Sky doesn’t support them.
The studio has unveiled that some of the problems currently being addressed with the hot fix include shader cache issues, SSE 4 for CPUs which don’t support it, as well as shaky mouse controls for players who are on foot. An “experimental branch with hot fixes” for the most common issues will be released, and some fans who have filed a support ticket will be directed to it while these and other solutions are tested. So, even though a bug fix has been promised, Hello Games has yet to divulge when the patch will be implemented.
Despite all of the problems No Man’s Sky‘s PC players have encountered, it’s worth noting that in less than 24 hours, the title went on to become one of the best-selling Steam games ever. Nevertheless, it will be interesting to see if a lot of fans on the platform are either dissuaded from playing it altogether or attempt to return the game through Steam’s refund system.
Naturally, with No Man’s Sky also being available for PlayStation 4, Hello Games is going to continue to support and amend the title as long as it can, regardless of the potential backlash from PC fans. As it happens, the studio has already mentioned the inclusion of free updates in the future that will incorporate bases, freighter ships, and more. However, before Sean Murray and his squad are able to move forward with fresh content, it would be best if the developer squashes all of the current bugs first.
